A terroir and men
Rapidly expanding, the estate located 4 km from the sea in a tourist site, has found a new lease of life thanks to Beatrix, whose efforts to make discover the production of La Garenne leads her to cross shows in order to find new markets, while providing a warm reception of the public, in the convivial atmosphere of the tasting cellar arranged carefully.
Down the valley of Saint Côme, at La Cadière d'Azur, on a clay and limestone soil from the neo Cretaceous, the estate of La Garenne covers 27 hectares including 22 hectares in Registered Designation of Origin (AOC). The vineyards are mostly planted with mourvèdre, black varietal that seems to have found in the country of Bandol its ground of preference.
Having long been dedicated to wild rabbit hunting, the land was devoted to viticulture by Count Jean de Balincourt. Since the first vinification, in 1965, the estate hasn’t stopped growing.
Terroir dedicated to the rosé wine: La Garenne produces 70% of rosé and 30% of red wine- the estate provides the culture of the vine with a traditional tillage, a reasoned soil treatment, manual grape harvest, grass cover depending on the configuration of the land, gobelet pruning for mourvèdre and training for cinsault. The estate is moving towards an integrated production.
